EMDR Consultants-in-Training

The EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) has a process in place by which Certified EMDR Therapists can prepare to become Approved Consultants under the guidance of an existing credentialed Consultant.  Consultants-in-Training (CITs) receive “consultation on consultation” as they learn and practice the nuances of this important work.

Below are the CITs currently working with me.  I encourage any EMDR therapists working toward EMDRIA Certification to consider working this them.  Remember, per EMDRIA standards, CITs can provide up to 15 hours of consultation toward certification requirements. The remaining five hours must be provided by an Approved Consultant.

Michelle Risser, LISW-S

Michelle is a Columbus based EMDR Therapist and graduate of the Institute for Creative Mindfulness’ EMDR Training Program. She is a Certified EMDR Therapist with the EMDR International Association and Consultant-in-Training with me. Michelle has been working in the field of mental health since 2003. Before opening her private practice in 2010, Michelle’s experience included working as a psychiatrist’s assistant in a large counseling center, serving homeless teens in a transitional housing program, providing medical case management, drug and alcohol counseling and mental health therapy for persons living with HIV/ AIDS and as a hospital social worker with children and families at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Michelle specializes in maternal mental health and birth trauma. Michelle is also passionate about helping clinicians prevent and overcome burnout.  Visit her website to learn more.

Rates: One Hour Group Consultation – $25; Individual Consultation – $35/hour
