This workshop is designed to explore the explore the concept of secondary trauma. We will identify strategies to prevent secondary trauma and techniques for healthy self-care. Topics covered will include:
- Definition of secondary traumatization and its sources
- The signs and symptoms of secondary traumatization
- Self-examination for work-related stress and secondary traumatization
- Basic strategies social workers can use to be prevent secondary traumatization and improve self-care
Please dress in layers. We will have limited control over the HVAC for the space. We learn better when we’re comfortable! Please also consider bringing a notebook, pen, and highlighter. Handouts will be provided, but the presentation is primarily lecture and discussion.
